Ambient Marketing: It is the most visually entertaining form of guerrilla marketing. Here signage and brand logos are placed against (or on) unusual items that aren’t accepted backdrops for advertisements. But leaving the definition here doesn’t do justice to the ingenuity of ambient marketing. The placement is clever and creative ensuring that it utilizing the item itself and the objects around the item to actually reinforce a core benefit of using the company’s offerings.
3. Traditional marketing is geared toward big business. Before I wrote the original Guerrilla Marketing in 1984, I couldn’t find any books on marketing for companies that invested less than $300,000 monthly. Although it is now true that many Fortune 500 companies buy Guerrilla Marketing by the caseload to distribute to their sales and marketing people, the essence of guerrilla marketing — the soul and the spirit of guerrilla marketing — is small business: companies with big dreams but tiny budgets.
The end result of the MLM business model is, therefore, one of a company (the MLM company) selling its products and services through a non-salaried workforce ("partners") working for the MLM company on a commission-only basis while the partners simultaneously constitute the overwhelming majority of the very consumers of the MLM company's products and services that they, as participants of the MLM, are selling to each other in the hope of one day themselves being at the top of the pyramid. This creates great profit for the MLM company's actual owners and shareholders.
Street art is thus a subversive activity, hijacking public places and inventing rather paradoxical forms of expression that reformulate ways of communicating, all of which inform street marketing practices. Thus marketing in the street, given that it is inspired by the work of such artists, brings with it constraints and statutory risks for which agencies and advertisers are generally not prepared. Many MLM companies do generate billions of dollars in annual revenue and hundreds of millions of dollars in annual profit.
