Working 20 to 30 hours a week, Brickey says he participated in mandatory conference calls with other Pre-Paid Legal associates to talk about sales and ways to generate more business. He also says he held in-home presentations to try and sign up new customers, placed flyers at the public library and on parked cars, and passed out business cards in front of the neighborhood grocery store. But three months after joining and with virtually no income to show for it, Brickey was ready to call it quits. “I’m really frustrated with the whole thing. … I was in an income crunch and I was trying to be positive and give it a chance.”
Online reviews, then, have become another form of internet marketing that small businesses can't afford to ignore. While many small businesses think that they can't do anything about online reviews, that's not true. Just by actively encouraging customers to post reviews about their experience small businesses can weight online reviews positively. Sixty-eight percent of consumers left a local business review when asked. So assuming a business's products or services are not subpar, unfair negative reviews will get buried by reviews by happier customers.

Further, MLM is a great way to develop sales, public speaking, leadership and management skills. I often suggest it to aspiring entrepreneurs who haven’t yet decided what they want to pursue. Network marketing may not make you rich overnight, but it can teach much of what you need to know to have a successful business. You can use it as a training ground.
You need to approach many prospects to find a few people who are right for your downline. Electronic communication provides exposure for your business without using too much of your time to vet interested prospects. Develop a website or use a standard one provided by your MLM as part of your distributorship. When you are contacted by email, arrange for an automatic reply that supplies information and directs the prospect to the next step to give you time to send a personal response. Add the email address to your contact list and include it when disseminating useful information about your business. Start a blog, which can be accessed on your website, and write articles that highlight product information and help your group expand their businesses. Post meeting dates and announcements on your social networking sites and update them at least once a day.
